How Does VMT Ensure Concentricity for Custom CNC Machining Lens Parts?

Single-Setup Machining: We complete the internal bore, threads, and outer diameter in one single clamping using Turn-Mill Multitasking Centers and Swiss-type Lathes. By not moving the part between steps, we eliminate the positioning errors that occur when a part is re-clamped.
Precision Boring: For lens seats, we use specialized boring bars instead of standard drilling or milling. This process corrects any hole drift from the initial roughing, achieving a roundness and concentricity tolerance of ±0.005mm.
In-Process Probing: We use Renishaw probes inside the machine to measure parts during production. The system automatically adjusts for microscopic tool wear or thermal shifts, ensuring every part in a 1,000-unit batch is identical.
Stress Relief: Thin-walled optical parts can warp after machining. We use Heat Treatment or Vibrational Aging to “relax” the metal, ensuring the part stays perfectly round even after surface finishing like anodizing.
CMM Verification: Every critical dimension is verified by a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). This provides a digital report proving the concentricity between the internal lens seat and the external mount.
