Material Selection
Sheet Metal Fabricated Assemblies are made of a variety of materials, depending on the specific application, strength requirements, corrosion resistance, cost, and machinability of the desired component. Here are some commonly used sheet metal materials:
1. Steel
Stainless steel: Stainless steel is widely used due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good aesthetics. It is suitable for environments that need to resist corrosion and oxidation, such as food processing equipment, medical equipment, and building exteriors.
Carbon steel: Carbon steel is a cost-effective material with high strength and good weldability. It is often used to manufacture structural parts, mechanical components, and automotive parts.
Alloy steel: Alloy steel improves the strength and corrosion resistance of steel by adding other elements such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, etc. It is suitable for applications that require higher performance, such as aerospace, oil and gas industries.
2. Aluminum
Aluminum alloy: Aluminum alloy is favored for its lightweight, high strength, good corrosion resistance, and easy machinability.
3. Other Metal Materials
Copper and copper alloys
Titanium and titanium alloys
